A team's success can only be measured by its supporting cast. While the players serve as frontrunners, coaches and assistant coaches pride themselves on getting the most out of their players.
Dino Nomicos, coach of the men's baseball team at Skyline, prides himself on preparing his players to not only excel at the junior college level but at levels far beyond.
Now in his twenty-third year of coaching he has helped rise the men's baseball team from despair and bring success to a once dying ball club.
Starting his baseball career at St. Ignatius high school in San Francisco he became an all-American before moving up to collegiate level and playing for Canada College. He then received a scholarship to play at the University of San Francisco.
He began coaching at the University of San Francisco as an assistant and moved to become the assistant coach at skyline after six years at Canada College. Now serving his 9th year as the men's head coach he's help lead skyline to a respectable 19 and 11 record and only two games back out of 1st place.
"There is a lot of pressure to play here, now that we win on consistent bases we really don't tolerate losing too much," Coach Nomicos said.
Instilling a "winners" mentality in his players and coaches alike drives the team to be as successful as they are.
As the season progresses the team hopes to close the gap between first place, and ultimately to make the state playoffs. Though a lot of the credit can be given to Coach Nomicos, he accredits the team's success to his players and assistant coaches.
Coach Nomicos said, "It's the players and the assistant coaches that make the program, not me, I'm just the CEO."
Their next game will prove to be a challenging one as they look to further make their push to the top.
